Varde on WordPress
Install the Varde plugin, paste your site ID and you are done. No theme editing, no cookie banner needed for Varde.
Install the plugin
- Download the Varde plugin (a .zip file).
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file and click Install Now, then Activate.
- Go to Settings → Varde Analytics, paste your site ID and save.
Your site ID is shown when you add your site. It is the data-site value in the script tag.
What the plugin does
- Adds the script to every front-end page. Nothing is loaded until a site ID is saved.
- Skips logged-in users by default, so you and your editors are not counted. To test, use a private window.
- Counts outbound links, file downloads, email and phone clicks automatically (you can turn this off).
- Lets you skip pages, for example
/my-account/*.
WooCommerce sales
With WooCommerce active, the plugin sends a purchase goal with the order total and currency when an order reaches the order-received page. Each order is counted once, even if the page is reloaded. Add a goal named purchase in your dashboard to see sales by source and page.
Track goals
Call varde('signup') when something you care about happens, then add a goal with the same name in your dashboard. In WordPress you can add it to any link or button:
<a href="/contact" onclick="varde('contact_click')">Contact us</a>Without the plugin
If you prefer not to add a plugin, paste the script with a header snippet plugin such as WPCode, or in your theme's header.php before </head>. A theme update may remove it from header.php.
<script defer data-site="YOUR_SITE_ID" src="https://vardeanalytics.com/js/script.js"></script>Check that it works
Open your site in a normal browser window. The add-site screen shows Connected once the first pageview arrives, and the dashboard fills in within a few minutes. If nothing shows up, see the checklist at the bottom of Install on your platform.
